Fees
Private psychological and social work services are not covered by MSI. However, most health insurance plans cover the services of a registered psychologist. and/or social worker. We encourage you to confirm the amount of coverage you have available prior to booking sessions.
These are some questions to ask your insurance company:
-Do I have coverage for psychological or social work services?
-How much coverage do I have per year? When does it renew?
-How much of each session is covered?
-Do I need a referral from a physician to qualify for coverage?
-How do I submit my receipts for reimbursement?

We adhere to the rate recommended by the Association of Psychologists of Nova Scotia (APNS) for psychological services: $210 per 50-minute session (+ 10 mins of file notation). We also adhere to the rate recommended by the NS College of Social Workers (NSCSW): $175 per 50-minute session (+ 10 mins of file notation).
Reports and/or forms prepared on your behalf, at your request, will also be billed at this rate, as per the time it takes to complete the documentation.
With the exception of some insurance and EAP plans that permit direct billing, fees are paid at the time of each session.

Various forms of payment are accepted, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, e-transfer, and Cash.
Please note that you will be billed for sessions cancelled or changed without 24 hrs notice (i.e., by Friday at noon for Monday appointments). Sufficient notice will allow another client to be booked during the time that was reserved for you. The cancellation fee will be waived in exceptional circumstances, such as dangerous weather, serious illness, or a personal emergency. Please be advised that your receipt will be labelled as a missed appointment and most insurance companies and Employee Assistance Programs do NOT cover the cost of missed appointments.
