Shannon Bedford, Psy.D., Psychologist
I strongly believe that therapy can be a transformative life experience, and I look forward to helping you take those steps. My approach to therapy focuses on teaching clients how to meet their own goals. In therapy, I work with clients to understand their values, emotions, and access their own compassion in order to make meaningful changes in life.
I have worked in outpatient clinics, residential hospital-based programs, and university counseling centres. I have experience working with individuals with disordered eating, self-esteem concerns, PTSD and trauma-related disorders, anxiety, and mood-related disorders, and life transitions. My therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing from emotion-focused, acceptance and commitment, cognitive-behavioural, Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and compassion-based therapies. I believe the most effective therapy draws from scientific research, highlighting client strengths and needs, and being collaborative and flexible.

I also have an interest in assessment and provide psychodiagnostic assessments for clients interested in gaining a better understanding of their symptoms and patterns of behaviour.

I am registered in both Nova Scotia and Ontario to practice psychology.
