Mark Russell has been practicing for over 30 years as a registered psychologist and has a particular interest in couples therapy.
Mark's approach to Couples Therapy includes an emphasis on working with both members of the couple to achieve a balance between individual and couple needs/wants/goals. He works with both individuals to increase attachment/connection, compassion, respect, trust, and understanding within their relationship. His approach is informed by Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness-based Therapy. Particular emphasis is placed on recognizing, understanding, managing and avoiding destructive interactions, increasing connectedness/attachment, healthy communication skills, conflict resolution, and self management. However, the emphasis remains on the underlying goals of maintaining mutual respect, compassion, trust, understanding, and identifying and balancing individual and relationship needs.
