Miranda Fudge, Ph.D., Psychologist

I am a clinical psychologist who works with adults and couples of all ages, genders, sexual identities, backgrounds, and relationship formats. I offer therapy to two broad groups of people. First, I am passionate about helping individuals through many types of difficult experiences, including anxiety, sadness and depression, emotion dysregulation, stressful life events or transitions, identity development, and relationship strain. Second, I specialize in providing sex therapy to individuals and couples who are experiencing difficulties related to their sex lives (e.g., problems with desire, arousal, erection, orgasm, atypical sexual interests, or non-traditional relationship formats), which may also be related to or impacting their romantic relationships.

I am also a WPATH trained clinician, meaning I offer Trans Health Readiness assessment services. I can complete assessments and write letters of support for adults (19+) seeking both hormone therapy and gender affirming surgeries.

My approach to clinical practice involves integrating the best available scientific evidence with my own clinical expertise and each client's values and preferences. I believe that a strong relationship between the therapist and client is the foundation of meaningful change. As such, I take a genuinely warm and empathic approach to understanding my clients. I view each client as the expert on their own life and each initial session as an opportunity to understand the client's perspective. I select evidence-based interventions that fit with the client's worldview, including interventions from diverse therapeutic frameworks (e.g., cognitive behavioural, dialectical behaviour, mindfulness-based, emotionally-focused, motivational, and solutions-focused).

I am originally from Newfoundland and was trained in Atlantic Canada (Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of New Brunswick, BA (Honours) in Psychology from Memorial University's Grenfell Campus). I have specialized training in evidence-based therapy for sexual concerns and dysfunctions and also have been involved with research related to sexuality (e.g., people's feelings about their genitals, online and text-based sexual activity), which has been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Most importantly though, I am firmly dedicated to continued growth and education - I believe in growing along with (and often because of) my clients.
